Deal.
I bet soon this title will be an economic reality. Google will finally buy Twitter. Why ? Because if they don’t do it soon, Facebook will do it. And then Google will have to buy Facebook, for less ROI (Return On Investment).
Twitter is a fragile start-up, with no revenue, no killer next step marketing plan, and no farm-server power. But God know how they are a trending topic these days !
Index.
Twitter is realtime information where Google is completeness, or so. Both could give birth to the big thing.
The first announced step is that Google will index Twitter content. Titter will benefit from the Google index power, but certainly lose own organic traffic growth as you’ll find Twitter content directly within Google search results. Nice path to make more obvious the above mentioned.
So beware of what you tweet from now on. Google is not Twitter. They archive your public insults forever.
Questions.
One question is to know if there is a real added value to get in search results from tweets ?
For special events in the trends of breaking news categories, that’s ok. But as twitter became a spam and ad place in no time, how will Google accept to index ads from which he gets no dime ?
On the user side, we all produce 98% crap content into Twitter. Do we really need/want to see the others crap squatting search results ?
And from a more larger point of view, do we really need a realtime flow of low quality and non-verified information to live – more – happy ?
