Appart from being finally usable and ressource friendly, Windows 7 will bring you a surprise in the box : touchscreen capacity.
Of course, you won’t enjoy it until you get your next brand new monitor (with or without your new computer). Yes, if you didn’t got it yet, fully using Windows 7 will require – as always with Microsoft – new hardware.
As you can see it in the attached video, touchscreen technology to manage your Windows desk looks cool. Mooving windows and clicking icons the iPhone-way might soon become natural, at least more than with a mouse and more than that, harass a little bit less your hand nerves and tendons.
But what you’ll earn in fluidity, you’ll certainly lose it in cleanliness.
If you’re not a regular touchscreen user on handheld devices, you won’t immediately figure out what I’m talking about. But if you are, you already know how many times per day you try to clean that oiled screen, with anything from your arm, your shirt, your tie… Real pain in the ass.
Ok, on a PC screen, at least you won’t need to apply your ear to it to talk with somebody, like you do with a touchscreen phone. It’ll be less oily, but oily enough.
So are we condemned to use super dirty touchscreens ?
A touchscreen surface that is finger oil proof is still to be invented. Because what you accept from a 3" screen, you won’t bear it over 19", simply because you won’t be able to read anything through the dripping oil after 30 minutes of normal finger use ! ;-)
